CHESKY RECORDS will be releasing Invitation [SACD348], the debut album of vocalist, Beat Kaestli, on April 13, 2010. Beat Kaestli will celebrate the release of his CHESKY RECORDS debut, Invitation [SACD348], with a show at Birdland Jazz Club on Thursday, April 29th, 2010 at 6 pm. Invitation [SACD348] features Billy Drummond on drums, Jay Leonhart on bass, Paul Meyers on guitar, Joel Frahm on saxophone and Kenny Rampton on Trumpet. Invitation [SACD348] marks the first release for CHESKY RECORDS in 2010.

Invitation [SACD348] was recorded at historic St. Peter’s Church in Chelsea, New York City. Instead of close miking all the instruments, CHESKY RECORDS uses one microphone to hear the full, 360-degree acoustic space of St. Peter’s Church. Musicians are always recorded live with no overdubs.  No compressors are used in the signal path.

Swiss jazz vocalist, Beat Kaestli, has enjoyed a diverse musical experience ranging from jazz to R&B, gospel to musical theater and even Latin rhythms since arriving in New York City in 1993. He was awarded a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music (B.M.).  In 2007, he received a scholarship to the Aaron Copland School (M.A.) from the Ella Fitzgerald Foundation and graduated in 2008.  Kaeslti has since been a mainstay of the New York City club circuit performing at venues such as the Blue Note, Birdland, the Bitter End, the Jazz Standard, the Stone and Sweet Rhythm performing with such jazz luminaries as Esperanza Spalding, Clarence Penn, Joel Frahm, Billy Drummond and Victor Pietro.

Invitation [SACD348], Kaestli’s debut on CHESKY RECORDS, is a tribute to the American Songbook and features the songwriting of Rube Bloom and John H. Mercer, Johnny Burke and Jimmy van Heusen, Lorenz Hart and Richard Rodgers, Hoagy Carmichael and Ned Washington and Cole Porter among others.

The admission charge is $20, and for this show only, your admission will include a complimentary copy of Invitation.  Reservations are advised: (212) 581-3050. Birdland Jazz Club is located at 315 West 44th Street, b/w 8th and 9th Avenues, New York, NY. http://www.birdlandjazz.com/
