Kimberly Akimbo Synopsis & Casting Requirements
Synopsis: Kimberly is a teenager with a rare condition that causes her body to age four times faster than it should. When she and her family flee Secaucus, New Jersey under dubious circumstances, Kimberly is forced to reevaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a scam-artist aunt, her own mortality, and, most terrifying of all, the possibility of first love. In this dark comedy, winning the game has never been more complex, the stakes so high.

Casting Requirements: These characters are all from New Jersey, however, we're not looking for hard-core Jersey accents. Just a generic urban sound. Ages of Patti, Buddy, and Debra are somewhat flexible.

•Kimberly - 60-65 years old. Kimberly is actually 16 years old and suffers from progeria, so she looks 60-65 (or older). Due to her condition and the fact that she has been burdened with two of the most incompetent parents who ever procreated, she has a gravitas and maturity above her years. But at her core she is still a 16-year-old with all the insecurities and angst that comes with teenagerhood.

•Jeff - a legitimate 16-year-old. Naive, sincere, a bit of a dork. His empathy for Kimberly stems from the fact that he was also an outsider who never fit in with his peers. He's the kind of kid that even the principal would stuff into a locker.

•Buddy - 38-43. Kimberly's father. Fatherhood is WAY out of his league. Buddy would LIKE to be a good father, he just has no clue how. Works in "the booth" at a Chevron station, and that's about as good as it'll ever get for him.

•Patti - 38-43. Selfish, and completely oblivious to the rest of the world. Unlike Buddy, Patti is not aware of her parental short-comings. She thinks she's Donna Reed and June Cleaver combined. Many of her utterances are designed to make the audience gasp with disbelief that ANY mother could say such things.

•Debra - 38-42. Patti's foul-mouthed, shoot-from-the-hip lesbian sister. In her own way, Debra is as self-absorbed as Patti is. She has no regard for anyone else, except as tools to help her achieve her ends. Debra has some fabulous laugh lines and the audience will love her without realizing what a morally bankrupt person she really is. But that's OK.
