With hits like Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Pride and Prejudice, the works of Jane Austen continue to charm readers young and old. The only problem? There hasn't been a new Jane Austen book in two-hundred years.

This December, Jet City Improv has once again partnered with Book-It Repertory Theatre to present the return of the hit feature-length improvised comedy AUSTEN TRANSLATION where audience suggestions are translated into an all-new romance set in Jane Austen's world of landed gentry, grand ballrooms, English manor houses, love, valor, sense, and sensibility.

Every performance of AUSTEN TRANSLATION tells the story of a bright young heroine's journey to navigate the designs of her family and the delicacy of her heart. While faithful readers of the grande dame of English romance novels are sure to delight in the country dances, carriage rides, and turns about the room in this unscripted romance, beloved characters like Mr. Darcy or Emma Woodhouse will be nowhere in sight. Instead, a cast of trained improvisational actors will create a completely original cast of characters in a tale full of stolen glances, tantalizing secrets, and a love story for the ages.

Show creator and Jet City Improv artistic director Andrew McMasters explains, "I had the idea for a number of years to create an ensemble piece based on Jane Austen's work. So a few years back we reached out to Book-It and they were thrilled to help make it happen. The chance to tell a brand new story every night is very exciting for us and the Book-It style was instrumental in making our stories seem like they had been adopted from an existing Jane Austen novel. Audiences loved it, and I'm very excited that we have another opportunity to bring it to our audiences again this December."

The cast features improvisers from the Jet City Improv ensemble and beyond: Chris Allen, Nathan Cox, Kate Drummond, Amalia Larson, RAndy Miller, Mandy Price, Kayla Teel, Graham Tordoff, Laura Turner and Elicia Wickstead.

Performances are Thursday and Friday nights at 8pm from Dec 1 through Dec 23 with a special opening night gala onDec 1 featuring a Q&A with the actors followed by complimentary cake and champagne. Advance tickets to all performances are $15 for general admission ($18 at the door), $12 for students, seniors, military personnel, and TPS members ($15 at the door), and $10 on Thursdays ($15-$18 at the door). Per the strict adherence to manners in the Regency Era, this show is appropriate for all ages despite its unscripted nature.

AUSTEN TRANSLATION is a part of Jet City Improv Presents, an ongoing series of new ensemble works that present improvised stories complete with sets, costumes, and props like a traditional scripted performance. Despite a more polished appearance, the art and spirit of improvisation still lie at the heart of each performance and every story is created based on unique suggestions and input provided by the audience.
