The Intiman Theatre in Seattle--last year's Tony Award-winner for Regional Theatre--has announced its 2006-2007 line-up, which will include the world premiere of a new Craig Lucas play, as well as the national tour of Lucas and Adam Guettel's The Light in the Piazza.

Christopher Sergel's adaptation of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill a Mockingbird will kick off the season.
"Set in the small town of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s, the story is told through the eyes of Scout, a six-year-old girl whose father, the lawyer Atticus Finch, teaches her about courage and human dignity when he defends a black man accused of raping a poor white girl. This extraordinary book is an artful and compassionate story of innocence, bigotry and what it means to be a family."

Bartlett Sher, the theatre's artistic director and a recent Tony-nominee for The Light in the Piazza, will take the helm of Anton Chekhov's classic Uncle Vanya.  Sher previously directed an acclaimed production of Three Sisters at the theatre.  "
His new examination of Chekhov's profound understanding of human relationships promises to be a theatrical experience not to be missed."

Lucas, the Intiman's associate artistic director, is the author of Prayer for My Enemy, which will have its world premiere.  The play
"explores the connection between two childhood friends who are unexpectedly reunited on the eve of one's first tour of duty in Baghdad."  Lucas' other plays include Prelude to a Kiss and Reckless.

The national tour of The Light in the Piazza will be presented by the Intiman, where the musical originated in 2003.  Directed by Sher, Piazza features Tony Award-winning music and lyrics by Guettel and a book by Lucas.
"The direct-from-Broadway telling of this rhapsodically heartbreaking story includes new scenery, songs and orchestrations as well as a revised book," according to Intiman notes.  The show will run at the Paramount Theatre from April 17th through 29th.

With the exception of The Light in the Piazza, performance dates have not been announced for the shows.  A final show that will complete the season has also to be announced.
