Cherry Lane Theatre has announced its next Discovery Series production, Huck and Holden, written by Rajiv Joseph and directed by Giovanna Sardelli. Huck & Holden, starring Cherise Boothe, Nick Choksi and LeRoy McClain, will begin performances at the Studio at Cherry Lane (38 Commerce Street), on January 17 and play a limited engagement through February 11.

"A college student from India comes to the U.S. to study engineering, but ends up getting a first hand look at the other electives America has to offer - like sex, porn, violence and The Catcher in the Rye… ," according to press notes.

Theresa Rebeck, the most produced playwright in America this season, first developed Huck & Holden as part of the Cherry Lane Mentor Project 2005. Mentor Project, the cornerstone of Cherry Lane Theatre's development programs, "engages pre-eminent dramatists in one-to-one mentoring relationships with aspiring playwrights for an entire theatre season. During their tenure the Mentors help the young writers hone their craftsmanship as their respective plays move toward the final phase of our program, a showcase production. Cherry Lane's Discovery Series gives new plays a premiere Off-Broadway production."

Huck & Holden is playing at Cherry Lane's studio space while the main stage is being renovated. "We will preserve all the details that make us an intimate, neighborhood playhouse, while providing a more accessible and comfortable destination for our audiences, and a technically advanced workspace for our artists", says Artistic Director Angelina Fiordellisi. "When RENOVATE 38 is complete, we will be able to meet everyone's needs.  During the renovation, we continue to produce new plays in our Studio Theatre."

The show's performance schedule is: Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:00PM, Saturday matinee at 3PM.  Tickets are $25 ($5 students): call 212-989-2020 or visit www.cherrylanetheatre.org.
