David Hare (Plenty, upcoming The Vertical Hour) will join Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis for a post-show discussion with the audience, following the reading of Stuff Happens at the Delacorte Theater on Wednesday, September 6th.  This one-night-only free event will celebrate the success of The Public's recent award-winning production of Stuff Happens. The rain date is Thursday, September 7th.

Helmed by Tony Award winning director Daniel Sullivan, Stuff Happens ran for over three months downtown in The Public's Newman Theater, garnering numerous awards and creating one of the longest running successes of recent seasons.

A provocative and thoughtful play about how and why we went to war in Iraq, Stuff Happens brings to the stage an ongoing story of great national and international importance, with characters and dialogue seemingly ripped from today's headlines.  Inspired by actual events - both public and private - that have been authenticated from multiple sources, Stuff Happens is a powerful history play that brilliantly transforms "real life" into profound drama.

In choosing to program Stuff Happens at The Delacorte, Artistic Director Oskar Eustis recently told The New York Times, "The fundamental political statement that we're making is that the theater is supposed to be responding to the great political and social issues of our time.  It's our job to throw ourselves into the teeth of these dilemmas."

Stuff Happens at the Delacorte will feature George Bartenieff, Reed Birney, Tony Carlin, Glenn Fleshler, Zach Grenier, Lameece Issaq, Peter Francis James, Ken Marks, Larry Pine, David Pittu, Gloria Reuben, Jay O. Sanders, Thomas Schall, Robert Sella, Brenda Wehle, and Waleed F. Zuaiter .

The reading of Stuff Happens at the Delacorte in Central Park will be Tuesday, September 6th at 8:00 p.m.  Tickets are free, in the tradition of Shakespeare in the Park, and will be available on the day of the performance (two per person) at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. and at The Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street (near Astor Place), from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The closest entrances to the Delacorte are at 81st Street and Central Park West or 70th Street and Fifth Avenue.
