Glenne Headly to Take on Role of 'Brenda Drexel' in Broadway's FISH IN THE DARK

Acclaimed stage and film actress Glenne Headly will assume the role of Brenda Drexel opposite Jason Alexander as Norman Drexel, in Larry David's hit comedy about a death in the family, Fish In the Dark beginning Tuesday, June 9 at the Cort Theater (138 West 48th Street). Miss Headly assumes the role created by Rita Wilson in the comedy, which was directed by Anna D. Shapiro, and which also stars Rosie Perez, Jayne Houdyshell, Ben Shenkman and Lewis J. Stadlen, heading a cast of 18. Larry David and Miss Wilson will play their final performances as Norman and Brenda Drexel on Sunday, June 7. The limited engagement run of Fish In the Dark, originally scheduled through June 7, has been extended six weeks through Saturday, July 18.

Glenne Headly last appeared on stage in New York in the 2013 New Group production of The Jacksonian, originally presented at the Geffen Playhouse. Her other stage credits include Aunt Dan and Lemon (Almeida Theatre), My Brilliant Divorce (Druid Theatre Company), Detachments (Tiffany Theater),Arms and the Man (Circle in the Square Theatre), The Philanthropist (Manhattan Theatre Club), and Balm in Gilead (Circle Repertory Company). A former member of the Steppenwolf Theatre ensemble, she won four Jeff Awards and appeared in the Steppenwolf's productions of Say Goodnight, Gracie; The Miss Firecracker Contest; The House; Coyote Ugly; Absent Friends; Mother Courage and Her Children; Born Yesterday; and Balm in Gilead. Her film work includes Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Dick Tracy, Mr. Holland's Opus, Mortal Thoughts, 2 Days in the Valley, What's the Worst That Could Happen?, Breakfast of Champions, Around the Bend, The Amateurs, Comeback Season, The Joneses, Don Jon, and many others. Television credits include the live theatrical presentation of "On Golden Pond" for CBS as well as roles on "ER," "Monk," and "And the Band Played On." She was nominated for an Emmy Award for two different miniseries-"Lonesome Dove" and "Bastard out of Carolina"-and appeared in the telefilms "Pronto," "My Own Country," and "Women vs. Men." She will next be seen in HBO's upcoming miniseries "Criminal Justice."

Beginning June 9 Fish In the Dark will be performed Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7pm, and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm. Please note: the Tuesday, June 9performance will begin at 8pm.
