GHOSTLIGHT Gets Workshop Production as Part of Emerging Artists Theatre's New Work Series

The Emerging Artists Theatre has invited GHOSTLIGHT to perform a workshop/staged reading of their show as part of their prestigious New Work Series. The exclusive performance will take place on Thursday, October 22nd at the TADA! Theatre, 15 West 28th Street in NYC, at 9:00 PM.

The October 22nd show will star Broadway leading lady Jennifer Hope Wills (THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA; WONDERFUL TOWN) and Broadway veteran George Dvorsky, star of THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, PASSION, GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS, and many others.


Making her New York debut is popular European stage star Leigh Martha Klinger, who is well-known across the pond for her work as the lead in REBECCA the musical, Sugar Cane Kowalczyk in SOME LIKE IT HOT, Eponine in LES MISERABLES, as well as lead performances in WE WILL ROCK YOU, INTO THE WOODS, and the world premiere of Frank Wildhorn's RUDOLPH, where she starred as Mary Vetsera opposite Drew Sarich.


The rest of the cast features popular New York stage comedienne Kimberly Faye Greenberg (DANNY AND SYLVIA; ONE NIGHT WITH Fanny Brice), Abigail Ludrof (THE HVAC PLAYS; ROCKABYE HAMLET), and newcomer George Primavera. The ensemble will feature Grace Bennett, Christian Lane Green, Erin S. Leddy, Richard MacLeod, Brad Rakushin, Joshua J. Schwartz, Leanne A. Smith, Allison St. Rock, Lauren Testerman, Julianne Turkel, and Alex Ward.


"This cast is truly special. It's amazing to watch magic come alive right in front of your eyes, but they manage to pull it off" Realbuto adds.


The show is being directed by Michael Kidney, hailed for his creative and non-traditional work on Thornton Wilder's THE SKIN OF OUR TEETH in Brooklyn, with musical direction by ALLEGRO's Julianne B. Merrill.

GHOSTLIGHT, the musical written by WUNDERKIND star Tim Realbuto and Matthew Martin (FREEDOM'S SONG), has been treading the boards for nearly 10 years in NYC. The show has had a cult following since it debuted at The Signature Theatre Off-Broadway as part of the The New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2011.

That production starred Tony Award winner Daisy Eagan, Tony nominee Michael Hayden, and Drama Desk Award winner Rachel York. The many performers who have contributed to GHOSTLIGHT by appearing in one of the show's many readings, performing on the demo recording, or appearing in Martin and Realbuto's sold-out GHOSTLIGHT concerts at 54 Below include stage and screen stars such as "That's So Raven"'s Anneliese Van Der Pol, Three time Tony Award nominee Carolee Carmello, Tony nominees Robert Cuccioli and Jennifer Laura Thompson, Mandy Gonzalez, Rachel Bay Jones, "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" star Jenna Leigh Green, Jeanna de Waal, Jason Gotay, Derek Klena, Claybourne Elder, Alli Mauzey, Natasia Diaz, Christina Sajous, Gary Lindemann, Trevor McQueen, Kimberly Faye Greenberg, and HAMILTON star Phillipa Soo. Jessica Biel, Bryce Dallas Howard, Lauren Ambrose, Melora Hardin, Ana Gasteyer, and Lily Rabe have also sought out the project, but scheduling issues restricted their involvement so far.


When the show premiered at NYMF, it was praised for it's music and originality but criticized for its length (running at nearly three hours!) After several more incarnations, the creative team has finally streamlined the show to a much more comfortable two hours.
