For many Americans, Monday night's live GRAMMY performance of the opening number to Broadway's Hamilton was their first exposure to the much hyped smash hit musical. However according to GoogleTrends, viewers appeared to be much more interested in learning who exactly is Alexander Hamilton!

Google Trends, a public web facility of Google Inc. that shows how often a particular search-term is entered relative to the total search-volume across various global regions, reported that searches for "Who is Alexander Hamilton?" spiked four times the normal rate during the show's live performance from the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City. Check out the tweet below:

The opening number "Alexander Hamilton" introduces America's 'Founding Father Without a Father' by giving a brief history of his childhood and his ultimate voyage to the U.S. mainland. Following the astounding performance Monday night, the show's creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda, rapped an acceptance speech for winning the night's award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Americans may want to purchase Miranda's upcoming book 'Hamilton: The Revolution,' out April 12th from Grand Central Publishing. The book will include complete lyrics to the musical's score along with annotations from Miranda. PBS has also announced that this fall it will air a documentary about the Broadway show featuring historical footage.
