FUN HOME Comes to Playhouse On The Square

By:

FUN HOME Comes to Playhouse On The Square ImageBased on the best-selling graphic novel of the same name, Fun Home introduces us to author Alison Bechdel at three different ages, revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family. As we look through her eyes we witness her journey to self-acceptance and a daughter's determination to understand and connect with her volatile, brilliant, enigmatic father. A refreshingly honest musical about seeing your parents through grown-up eyes, Fun Home is "a blazingly original heartbreaker and a nonstop treasure of invention"

Recent Memphian Joy Brooke-Fairfield (Once) takes on the role of the Alison Bechdel. Joining Ms. Brooke-Fairfield is Resident Company Member Brooke Papritz (Heathers: The Musical, Perfect Arrangement) as "Medium" Alison, and Sarah Johnson (Peter Pan) as "Small" Alison. Fun Home also features Memphis favorite and Resident Company Member Carla McDonald (The Bridges of Madison County, Carrie) as Helen Bechdel as well as Guest Artist and Playhouse alumn Stephen Huff (Kiss Me Kate, Race) as Bruce Bechdel. Fun Home is directed by Associate Director, Dave Landis (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, The Bridges of Madison County).

Fun Home runs May 4th - May 27th at Playhouse on the Square. Fun Home is sponsored by Diane Vescovo and Mike McLaren. The Circuit Playhouse Inc. Super Sponsor is Dr. Thomas Ratliff. The Pay-What-You-Can Performance is Thursday, May 10th at 8pm and is sponsored by ArtsZone/AutoZone and Southland Park Gaming and Racing. Playhouse on the Square is located at 66 S. Cooper St. For more information or to make reservations, please call 901-726-4656 or purchase tickets online at playhouseonthesquare.org.
