The world premiere of "Final Curtain" previews at the Madnani Theater in Hollywood for one night, September 1, 7:30 pm
'Artists follow their dreams. Billionaires just follow the money.'
A retirement home for actors is bought by a billionaire. He plans to kick them out and replace them with teenage TikTok influencers. But actors know how to make a scene!
Lyons Westmore is celebrating 170 years in the theater. What's the secret to her ageless charm? Being a ghost. She haunts a theater that's now part of a retirement home for actors. While the residents' stars may have faded, they still shine, sing, scheme, seduce and strive for one last standing ovation.
But Lyons' theater-and eternal soul-are threatened when a billionaire buys the building with plans to replace the aging actors with TikTok influencers-turning the theater into a gym for selfies. The performers do the only thing they know how- put on a show. What they don't know is that the billionaire is a former tap dancing frenemy.
Their final curtain is an act of defiance, proving that for this company, going out 'not with a whimper-but with a bang' is the only option.
Developed with Naked Angels Tuesdays at 9 and the Desert Playwrights Retreat, this hilarious and heartwarming new play probes the power of art and spirit against capitalism and AI.
The cast includes: Matt Chait, AnnaLisa Erickson, Trevor Davis, BreeAnna Judy, Henry Lide, Aimee McCrary, Susan Louise O'Connor, Torie Tyson, Christopher T. Wood, Allison Youngberg.
