On September 16, 2013, Duo Multicultural Art Center opens Confessions of a Cuban Sex Addict for a second season, running Mondays at 8PM through December 16th, with a press date of September 30th. Framed within the context of the historic Duo Theatre in the East Village, Confessions offers a glance into Artist Michelangelo Alasa's queer coming-of-age experience during the 1960s.

Confessions depicts layer upon layer of personal photographs, found images, domestic objects, mixed-media, and illusionary projections, all woven together to form an intimate collage of Alasa's autobiography. Subject matter spans Alasa's sexual abuse by his father, physical abuse by his mother and brother, and experience as a queer, first-generation immigrant from Cuba.

On the cusp of its second season, Alasa' continues to use Confessions as a means of reaching out to victims of abuse, as well as a way to communicate about his own experience of catharsis and healing. "I think anyone who has been abused in any way has a safe place they escape to. When I set out to develop Confessions of a Cuban Sex Addict as a walk through installation, I wanted to recreate that safe place of my childhood," says Alasa'. "I see Confessions as a three dimensional mural. The piece continues to grow as we reopen our second season."

Attendees will be taken on a narrative tour through a labyrinthine maze of Alasa's family photographs, artistic idols, household knickknacks, and sexual memorabilia. All attendees of Confessions are invited to write their own "confessions" on a gallery wall. A brief reception and talkback is held after each tour.
