Dolly Parton to Release New Album This Summer

By:

9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL creator Dolly Parton announced today that fans can expect an all new album from her this summer entitled, 'Better Day.' Additionally, she'll begin a worldwide promotional tour to coincide with the release.

Parton revealed: "I wanted to do an album that would be very uplifting and positive, as well as inspirational. Times are hard all over. I think people need to feel better and I thought BETTER DAY was a perfect title because it says 'hope.' I wrote all the songs for this one; plus, I think it may be a little more contemporary than what I usually do. I'm very excited, first of all, to be going back on tour at all. But I love the fans and I miss the live stage shows. With the new stage show I hope to have a lot of new things for the fans, especially all the new songs from the BETTER DAY CD and some new and different segments in the show with a lot more fun things as well. Of course, we will always be doing our biggest and most popular songs. We're looking for a good time for ourselves as well as for the fans."

Despite all of Parton's latest projects, the national tour of 9 to 5: The Musical continues through July. Click here for tickets and a full list of remaining tour dates.

Based on the wildly popular 1980s film of the same name, this outrageously funny Broadway delight features the original movie's blockbuster title tune, plus more than a dozen new songs by the queen of country music, iconic songwriter, movie star, and entrepreneur -- Dolly Parton! Parton's Tony Award-nominated score mixes her signature witty lyrics with infectious Broadway, pop and country-inspired melodies. 9 to 5: The Musical plays for three weeks only -- April 5th through the 24th -- at the historic 5th Avenue Theatre in downtown Seattle.

Set in the male-dominated, me-first world of 1980s office politics, 9 To 5: The Musical is a light-hearted story of friendship and revenge. It's all about teaming up, getting even, and taking care of business as three overworked and harassed secretaries turn the tables on their chauvinistic-sexist-egotistical-lying-hypocritical-bigot of a boss with side-splitting and satisfying results.
