Variety writes that stage vet Dianne Wiest and actress Zoe Lister Jones have joined the cast of CBS's comedy pilot LIFE IN PIECES.

LIFE IN PIECES, written and executive produced by Justin Adler with Aaron Kaplan, follows "one family from the perspective of its different members."

Wiest is set to play "the family matriarch Joan Short who adores her family and would do absolutely anything for them -- as long as she agrees with it.'

Jones will take on the role of Wiest's daughter-in-law and Colin Hanks' wife Jen, described as "a woman used to being in control, who now has a baby and finds out for the first time, she's not."

Also in the cast is Betsy Brandt, who will play the oldest of Wiest's three children. Hanks is the youngest. The middle sibling is still being cast.

Currently starring off-Broadway in RASHEEDA SPEAKING, Wiest has appeared on the Great White Way in ALL MY SONS, SALOME, IN THE SUMMER HOUSE, BEYOND THERAPY, OTHELLO, FRANKENSTEIN and more.

She won an Oscar each for Woody Allen's HANNAH AND HER SISTERS in 1987 and BULLETS OVER BROADWAY in 1995. Wiest is known for her roles in the films EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, LITTLE MAN TATE, THE BIRDCAGE, DAN IN REAL LIFE, RABBIT HOLE and more.

Among Jones' TV credits are NEW GIRL, FRIENDS WITH BETTER LIVES, WHITNEY, THE GOOD WIFE and more.
