DON ROSS: PHOTOGRAPHING QUARRIES Exhibition to Open in THT's Jackson Gallery in Middlebury, 4/5

The geometries and colors are other-worldly. It takes a moment to realize that you're not looking at an abstract painting, but at a high-resolution photo of an abandoned Vermont quarry.

This is the work of Brandon photographer Don Ross, whose photographs will be on display in the Jackson Gallery at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater from April 5 through May 3.

Don Ross has been photographing in Vermont quarries for two decades. His work is exhibited widely and is held in numerous private and public collections, including The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

The THT exhibit features some of his most recent work, including a selection of large scale prints of quarry perspectives accessible only in winter. Also included is a cross section of images created over the last 20 years, including black and white images from the 1990's.

Don Ross: Photographing Quarries can be seen at Town Hall Theater from April 5 - May 3, 2013. A reception for the artist, which is free to the public, is on Friday, April 19, from 5 to 7 PM. The Jackson Gallery is open from Monday through Saturday, noon to 5 pm.
