Classic Stage Company, led by Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, has just announced details for their upcoming 40th anniversary season. The acclaimed Off-Broadway theater company, currently in its 39th season, has been honored in the past with Obies, Drama Desk Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the 1999 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Body of Work.

The new season launches October 31 with Richard III, marking the third straight season at the CSC that features actor Michael Cumpsty and director Brian Kulick collaborating on a Shakespeare classic. Richard III will run through December 9.

January will see CSC presenting the world premiere of David Ives' New Jerusalem. Directed by Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago), New Jerusalem focuses on legendary philosopher Baruch de Spinoza's expulsion from the Jewish community of Amsterdam in the 17th century.  New Jerusalem runs January 2—February 10, 2008.

In March, Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Dianne Wiest (Third, the films Hannah and Her Sisters, Bullets Over Broadway) will star as Arkadina in Antov Chekhov's The Seagull, with a director to be announced in the forthcoming weeks.  The Seagull runs March 5—April 13, 2008.

CSC's 2007-8 season will also include the return of popular programs such as "The First Look Festival," "The Young Company," and "The Open Rehearsal Series."  More details will be announced in the future.

Memberships to Classic Stage Company productions are available at various price levels, and memberships for CSC's 2007-2008 season will be available June 1, 2007. For more information, call the Box Office at (212) 677-4210, ext. 10, visit the theater at 136 East 13th Street, or go to www.classicstage.org.
