Critics Crisis: New York Post's Elisabeth Vincentelli Let Go After Deadline Dismisses Jeremy Gerard

The steady decrease in professional journalists covering theatre and reviewing Broadway and Off-Broadway productions has been made evident once again, as the New York Post's first-string theatre critic, Elisabeth Vincentelli, has apparently been let go.

Colleague Jeremy Gerard, who was let go from his position as arts reporter and critic at Deadline earlier this week, posted the news on his Twitter page.

On Vincentelli's Twitter page, she now descibes herself as "Ex-New York Post."

A former Arts & Entertainment Editor, at Time Out New York, Vincentelli replaced the late Clive Barnes as the Post's chief drama critic in 2009.

Known for a dry wit that frequently references both pop and high culture, the French-born Vincentelli has been a frequent guest on PBS's "Theatre Talk," hosted by Susan Haskins and the New York Post's Michael Riedel. Visit evincentelli.com.
