Popular award-winning comedian Jerry Seinfeld has cancelled his performances at the Stage 42 cultural festival this weekend in Mumbai, India. The festival would have been Seinfeld's first ever appearance in India.

"Issues related to traffic and parking at the venue, which were brought to our attention only a couple of days ago, forced the cancelation of all artist travel arrangements pending a resolution of these logistical issues," organizers said in a statement.

The comedian was scheduled to arrive in India on Thursday, but was denied permission to do so and asked to cancel his flight. Tickets for the show, which were priced at $125 (7,500 rupees) and $208 (12,500 rupees) per person, will be refunded to customers.

Since the ending of his hit sitcom SEINFELD, he has gone on to write numerous comedy specials and make appearances on television shows such as SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. Seinfeld currently hosts his own internet comedy series COMEDIANS IN CARS GETTING COFFEE, in which he goes out for coffee with an established comedian. His guests have included Louis C.K. and David Letterman.
