Child Star Selah Atwood Comes To Off Broadway In STARBRIGHT

If you recognize this pint-sized actress, it's because she's also been on the silver screen several times, best known for her role as Jane, Woody Harrelson's daughter in the Oscar-acclaimed movie, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri." And she brought her trademark nerves of steel with her when she took on that role.

"I think I was too young to be scared," said the 10- year old, who was only eight when she played Jane. "Everyone was super nice to me. Woody Harrelson was super, super nice, too. I had so much fun!"

And fun it's what it's all about for Selah, who has something that every actor wants: Courage. Starring in STARBRIGHT, one of the amazing new world premieres in this year's Broadway Bound Theatre Festival 2018, Selah is bringing poise to the Big Apple this August. Simply put: the young artist is fearless, whether she's stepping on stage or out on the set.

"I just don't get stage fright. And I'm never really nervous," said the Asheville, N.C. child star. "I think a camera is really the same as an audience. They're both 'just there.' It's actually more fun than it is scary."

So what's her secret for staying cool?

"Well, I learn lines really easily and that's part of the reason. Once I've memorized all my lines, I know I'm going to be fine. And then I just have to remember what the character I'm playing is like. And that's it."

She makes it sound so simple. Selah plays the role of Abby in Sean David Robinson's play, which is a story about Grace, an astronomer and grieving mother of 8-year old Abby, who appears to her throughout the play, forcing her to question her beliefs about the cosmos.

Even though the show has four performances and she'll be busy on stage, Selah plans to make the most of her first time in New York City.

"I've never been to a big city and I'm excited to travel and be in this experience with my family," she said. "It's so exciting to say, I'm going to be in New York, performing in an off Broadway play!'"

What's she most excited about visiting?

"Brooklyn!" she said enthusiastically.

Not the usual answer from a 10-year old tourist. Why Brooklyn?

"Hmm. That's a good question. It's just pretty appealing to me."
