According to Variety, Channel 4 and its movie-making associate, Film4, have formed a partnership with Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre to "help new writers and directors make the transition between stage and screen."

"In a $60,000 deal, Channel 4 will get first look at plays being developed at the Traverse that have the potential to be adapted for film or TV," states the article.

Scotland's annual Edinburgh International Festival, the largest arts festival in the world, features classic music, theatre, opera and dance from across the globe.  This year, Film4 and the Traverse Theatre are presenting a panel on Monday, August 20 to discuss the creative cross-over between the stage and screen.  Panelists include screenwriters Simon Donald, Bill Eagles and Rona Munro, with Mike Leigh.

Channel 4 will also send two of its directors to work with the Traverse Theatre to learn more about the acting and show-business.
