Brooklyn Philharmonic's MUSICALLY EVER AFTER to Honor Yasiin Bey, Gideon Gartner

Just weeks before it ends its exciting 2011-12 relaunch season, the Brooklyn Philharmonic presents a faily-tale themed Gala entitled "Musically Ever After" on Thursday, May 24 at 6:30PM at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

The evening will honor two notable Brooklyn natives and personalities from the worlds of music, culture, and philanthropy: entertainer and musician Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) and the father of today's IT industry analyst business, entrepreneur Gideon Gartner.

Yasiin Bey, from Bedford-Stuyvesant, is a six-time Grammy nominated hip-hop star and Emmy and Golden-Globe nominated television and film actor. He has been Artist-in-Residence with the Brooklyn Phil during its 2011-12 season, and joins the Brooklyn Phil on June 9 for its Bed-Stuy Orchestra Concert.

Gideon Gartner, who grew up in Flatbush, played the French Horn as a member of the Brooklyn Phil in 1951 (under the baton of Milton Katims), then went on to found Gartner Group (now called Gartner Inc.), GiGa Information Group (now a part of Forrester Research), then finally SoundView Technology Group, serving as founder, Chairman and CEO of all three.

The main event entertainment will feature the popular duo Igudesman & Joo, classically trained comedians who have not only been hailed as "The Kings Of Classical Musical Comedy" by the Los Angeles Times, but were the highest played classical music artists on YouTube this year with over 30 million views. The after-party will feature music by Chris Keating, leader and vocalist of the highly successful Brooklyn-based experimental rock band Yeasayer.

The schedule for the evening includes a cocktail reception from 6:30PM-7:30PM, a seated dinner and main event from 7:30PM-9:30PM, and the first ever gala after-party, sponsored by The L Magazine, from 9:30PM-11:30PM.
