It's officially summer! For those who want to stay out of the heat, take a look at our latest roundup of streaming titles for the Broadway fan, including a new installment in Disney's Zombies franchise, a music competition series featuring Tony Award-winner Nicole Scherzinger, and Miley Cyrus' pop opera film. The Wicked movie will also join Prime Video, marking the second major streaming service to host the blockbuster film after Peacock.

Annie (July 1, Netflix)
A classic musical through and through, Annie follows the titular orphan as she navigates her difficult life under the "care" of Miss Hannigan at a New York orphanage. However, after being whisked away to stay with the wealthy Oliver Warbucks, her life begins to change for the better. The 1982 film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical stars Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, Ann Reinking, Tim Curry, Albert Finney, and Aileen Quinn.
Mom (July 1, Netflix)
All 8 seasons of the Chuck Lorre sitcom, led by Tony-nominee Allison Janney and Anna Ferris, are now on Netflix. The series follows Christy, a single mom who, after years of questionable choices, is now sober and trying to get her life on track. She's tested daily by her mother, Bonnie, who Christy still considers the root of her troubles, even though she has also gotten sober. Several Broadway actors made appearances on the show during its run, including Patti LuPone, Kristin Chenoweth, Linda Lavin, Tyne Daly, and more.
A Star is Born (July 8, Netflix)
2018's A Star Is Born is a musical remake of the classic film, this time starring Bradley Cooper (who also directed) and Lady Gaga. It follows an alcoholic musician who discovers and falls in love with a young singer. The movie received several awards, as well as eight nominations for the 91st Academy Awards, among them Best Picture, Best Actor (Cooper), Best Actress (Gaga), and Best Supporting Actor (Sam Elliott).
Building the Band (July 9, Netflix)
Building the Band is a new musical competition series, featuring Tony winner Nicole Scherzinger as a mentor and judge. The show brings together 50 singers who must form 6 bands, all without ever seeing each other. Hosted by AJ McLean (Backstreet Boys), it also features music experts and guest judges Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) and the late Liam Payne (One Direction), who bring their unparalleled expertise and personal band experience to the competition.
Too Much (July 10, Netflix)
Too Much, the new series from Lena Dunham, follows Jessica (Meg Stalter), a New York workaholic in her mid-thirties, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. The show stars Will Sharpe, Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Tony Award-nominee Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, and Adwoa Aboah. Known for her HBO series Girls, Dunham is currently at work on a stage musical adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You.
Dexter: Resurrection (July 11, Paramount+)
The highly anticipated original drama series is a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, with Broadway alum Michael C. Hall reprising the titular role of Dexter Morgan. The new show takes place weeks after Dexter takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Fellow Broadway stars Neil Patrick Harris, John Lithgow, and Jimmy Smits are all set to make guest appearances.
Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires (July 11, Disney+)
In the fourth installment of the musical Disney franchise, a new adventure dawns for zombie/cheerleader power couple Zed (Little Shop of Horrors' Milo Manheim) and Addison (Meg Donnelly) when their summer road trip takes an unexpected detour — landing them in the middle of a monster rivalry: Daywalkers vs. Vampires.
Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful (July 16, Hulu/Disney+)
Miley Cyrus: Something Beautiful, the full-length visual companion to Cyrus’ latest album, is one-of-a-kind pop opera fueled by fantasy, featuring thirteen original new songs from Something Beautiful. The visual album originally premiered on June 6 at the Tribeca Festival ahead of its one-night theatrical release in the U.S. and Canada on June 12.
Wicked (July 25, Prime Video)
Wicked, based on the hit Broadway show, stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba who is misunderstood because of her unusual green skin and has yet to discover her true power. Ariana Grande plays Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart. During its theatrical release, the movie became the highest-grossing movie based on a Broadway musical in the United States. It was also nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Floyd Collins Broadway Revival Cast Recording (July 11)
The official cast recording of the 2025 Broadway production of Floyd Collins will be available on July 11, featuring the vocals of Jeremy Jordan, Jason Gotay, Sean Allan Krill, Marc Kudisch, Lizzy McAlpine, Wade McCollum, and more. Released by Center Stage Records, the Floyd Collins album is produced by Adam Guettel and Ted Sperling, recorded and mixed by Lawrence Manchester, and executive produced by Adam Siegel and Van Dean.
Just for One Day: The Live Aid Musical (July 11)
Just For One Day - The Live Aid Musical (Original Cast Recording) is a fully realised rock record, with songs by artists including Queen, David Bowie, Ultravox, Boomtown Rats, U2, Elton John, The Police, The Who, Madonna, Phil Collins, Bob Dylan and more. The show is now running at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London’s West End.
The Billy Joel Project (July 11)
The Billy Joel Project, from Phil Geoffrey Bond's The Broadway Ensemble, is a new collection of songs, at turns intimate and explosive, that gets to the heart of one of the major singer/songwriters of our time. The album highlights the vocal talents of Farah Alvin, Nicholas Edwards, John Treacy Egan, Annie Golden, Lina Koutrakos, Aaron Ramey, Nicholas Rodriguez, Courter Simmons, Rachel Ulanet, Donna Vivino, and Michael Winther. Music direction is by Jeremy Robin Lyons (Anastasia).
Tim Minchin Time Machine (July 25)
Tim Minchin, composer and lyricist for Matilda the Musical and Groundhog Day, is releasing a new collection of 20 songs written over 20 years, all newly recorded. Tracks include "Understand It," "I Wouldn’t Like You," "Ruby," "The Song of The Masochist," "You Grew On Me," "Dark Side," "Pop Song," "Moment of Bliss," "Rock n Roll Nerd," "If All You Ever Had Was Love," and "Not Perfect."
