The artist Beau Bradbury, who goes by the singular, Beau, is showing a series of new works with gallerist Amy Li in May.

Beau's body of paintings includes references to Warhol, such as vividly colored images of Marilyn Monroe and Mao. Others include images of Jeff Koons sculptures, corporate logos and abstractions. "Because I work in variable styles and mediums, Amy pinpointed the pop cartoon approach for the exhibit," he says.

The artist says dexterity with a broad range of genres allows him to render styles most fitting for any environment. "A lot of my work grows out of necessity, usually a client steers me towards something they feel or that strikes them. I hold myself to a standard approach that an artist must practice in multiple mediums to encourage a rich growth in perception and technique and in a classically trained manner as well as letting one's spirit govern the means by which they express themselves trying to find new ways to break the rules that have already been broken many times over," he says. "I also like the challenge of completing paintings and or projects of any media within my reach."

Beau was born in Connecticut in 1984 and currently lives and works in New York. He recently exhibited at Hanksy's Best of The Worst group show and co-curated the 21st Precinct Art Exhibit this past August.

The Mechanical Shark Week exhibit will be celebrated with an opening reception tonight, May 7, from 7-9 p.m. Amy Li Projects is located at 166 Mott Street, New York, NY 10013. Gallery hours are Weds-Sun 12-6pm and by appointment: 347-981-2715. www.amy-li.com
