My Journey by Barbara Beyda: "Life is a Journey, and we all have our own personal journeys to take. The paths along the way are adorned with joy, scattered with pain, and replete with everything in between-but they all lead to personal growth. This kind of growth is, for me a magical place where our experiences transform into, strength, spirituality , and emotional riches.

I have been in a creative mode for most of my life. It started early on when I took my first oil painting class, from there I went on to working with many different art mediums, such as pastels, watercolors, colored pencils, encaustics, drawing, and A favorite activity of mine would be to walk around an art supply store and buy all kinds of paints, pencils, brushes and papers to experiment and create with. Then, I picked up a camera. From the moment I saw my first images gradually appear on the paper in my darkroom, I knew that capturing images through photography would be an important part of my lifelong journey.

In the interim, I went to work as a design director for Town & Country Living, a home textile company. I did market research, and design. Some of which were for Ralph Lauren and Martha Stewart. After becoming a grandmother I focused more precious time with my children and grandchildren, while still remaining involved in the business. I truly believe that bringing up children is one of the most challenging and creative things that a person can do in their lifetime. I have found creativity to be both an evolutionary and revolutionary process. Sometimes you decide what you want to create and then learn what you need to do to achieve a result; but other times you stumble on something that may seem accidentally, but is actually a culmination of the conscious and the unconscious merging, which some might call instinct..

A few years ago I decided to archive my work expecting it to take me a few weeks. To my surprise it took me many months just to edit and organize my work and then to finally put up a website. ( www.BarbaraBeyda.com ) At that point I realized that I had a tremendous body of work, starting with my classic pictorial black and white photographs, then going on to Nature photography , and later experimenting with Abstract. In all of these categories I tried to show passion, energy and emotion.

Nature is my oldest friend and my oldest subject. My love for natural things-flowers, grass, trees, fields, water, and sky, have given my imagination a place to roam - -a metaphorical and literal path to wander. I invite you to come and share part of my Journey with you on July 7th." -- Barbara Beyda
