Review: DENINOS RESTAURANT in the West Village is a Gem

Denino's is a gem of a restaurant located in the heart of Greenwich Village. Authentic Italian dishes, tempting pizzas and much more are presented in their attractive, spacious venue that includes a welcoming bar area. And with the nice weather coming, they offer their guests al fresco dining.

We stopped by early on a Sunday night for a delicious dinner. Whether it's date night, a friendly get-together or a family feast, Owner Joseph Castellano and his staff make sure that your visit to Denino's is outstanding. The restaurant is the newest location of the renowned Staten Island eatery that has been pleasing customers for over 75 years.

Order a few appetizers. The Mozzarella Sticks are not to be missed. Housemade mozzarella cheese is hand breaded and fried to perfection. Items like their spicy Buffalo Shrimp, Chicken Wings, Mini Riceballs, or Calamari are also ideal starters and make for great table shares.

Denino's makes pizzas that couldn't be better with light crispy crusts and a creative variety of toppings. We savored the A'Salute with fresh mozzarella cheese, ricotta, arugula, lemon dressing and shaved parmesan. The Vodka Pizza has their signature homemade vodka sauce and fresh mozzarella. Garbage Pie is topped with the finest sausage, meatballs, pepperoni, mushrooms and onions. There's no other pizza in the city like their renowned Clam pie. It is topped clams, fresh garlic, parsley, olive oil, and just a sprinkle of cheese but no sauce so the taste of the clams comes shining through.

For those that prefer, you can indulge in one of their Italian delightful entrees that includes Eggplant Parmesan, Veal Marsala and Shrimp Arrabbiata or one of their fresh pastas like the Broccoli Rabe Ravioli, Orecchiette, or Penne Vodka. On the lighter side, Denino's also serves salads, soups, and sandwiches.

Be sure to check out their Happy Hour that runs Monday all day, Tuesday-Friday 3pm-7pm and features half-price appetizers including a $2 palm pizza.
