BOMBSHELL Update! Craig Zadan Says Show Is In 'Amazing Shape' & New Posts From Rehearsal Run-Through

BOMBSHELL is ready to explode!

NBC's musical dramedy series SMASH ended after two seasons earlier this decade, but the Broadway-centric series will feature in a new reunion concert set to highlight material from the musical-within-the-series BOMBSHELL, inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe, on June 8 at a star-studded concert announced several weeks ago when the Kickstarter campaign racked up a grand total of $318,120.

BOMBSHELL producer Craig Zadan provided an update today on the run-through of the performance, commenting, "Had rough runthru #Bombshell. Went really well. Seeing/hearing entire show in sequence, one can't imagine how great the talent & score is," and followed up shortly thereafter with, "#Bombshell music sounds spectacular. @marcshaiman @DougBesterman created orchestrations that are thrilling. & @JoshBergasse's choreography!"

Subsequently, composer Marc Shaiman replied, writing, "<humbly bows> @craigzadan @DougBesterman @JoshBergasse" and orchestrator Doug Besterman shared, "Thank you Craig - it's going to be a spectacular concert! @craigzadan @marcshaiman @DougBesterman @JoshBergasse".

Cast member Reed Kelly shared comments from the runthrough, as well, writing, "Doing a full run-through of #Bombshell right now! I can barely contain myself!! Yesterday, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron shared several shots from the sitzprobe featuring Megan Hilty, Katharine McPhee, Jeremy Jordan, Ann Harada, Christian Borle, Brian D'Arcy James, Donna McKechnie and more, with Zadan commenting, "The #Bombshell cast sings for the first time today with the full orchestra. Very exciting. We're hearing expanded and new orchestrations."

The one-night only landmark event benefitting The Actors Fund takes place on Monday evening, June 8, 2015 at The Minskoff Theatre (1515 Broadway). Bombshell was the Marilyn Monroe musical created in NBC's Golden Globe-nominated television hit series "Smash," created by Theresa Rebeck. Bombshell features the Emmy-nominated songs "Let Me Be Your Star," and "Hang the Moon."
