BMW Group presents 200 Women: Who Will Change the Way You See the World
200 Women: Who Will Change the Way You See the World, a photography exhibition showcasing a diverse group of 200 women from around the world, will open to the public May 16-June 30 at Pen + Brush, 29 East 22nd Street, in Manhattan. Presented by BMW Group, the show is based on the storytelling project and book by the same name by Geoff Blackwell, Ruth Hobday, who set out to shine a light on diversity and equality through stories and images of women from all walks of life and every corner of the globe.
Actor Ashley Judd, bestselling authors Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Margaret Atwood, actor and activist Gillian Anderson, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern, classical violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, conservationist Jane Goodall, and the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela are among the women featured in the project, which was shot by photographer Kieran E. Scott. The creators used the same, minimal backdrop and the same simple interview questions for each subject, including activists, artists, entrepreneurs and a robotics engineer, as well as a goat herder, a domestic worker, and a Nepalese woman who has spent most of her life living on the streets of Kathmandu selling cigarettes-one at a time-to support her family.
