BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange Announces 2011/12 Season

BAX's 2011-12 Performance Season allows audiences to follow the work being created by this year's Artists In Residence (AIR) as it grows. The season begins with OPEN STUDIO WEEK in November, 2011. The AIR welcome audiences into their rehearsal studio, offering a rare glimpse into their creative practice. This journey continues through the season culminating in the Spring of 2012 with the AIR SHOWS, where these artists premiere their completed works.
Augmenting this body of work, the season also features evenings curated by current and past BAX AIR, the work of our Fall Space Grantees, The Jumpin' Juniper Festival for young audiences and their grown ups, and the work of young artists from our after school program and beyond.

YOUTHWORKS
A perennial favorite, YOUTHWORKS showcases dance, theater, music, poetry and video created by artists ages 7-18 from all over the metropolitan area. These young artists are provided some rehearsal time and are coached by a team of volunteer performing arts practitioners.

ACROBAXERS SHOW
The year-end performance by our most advanced tumbling class. Using a wide array of skills; tumbling, cartwheels, handstands, headstands, extensive partnering, backbends and walkovers as well as an array of circus skills they build expressive work steeped in the traditions of circus and deeply influenced by circus yoga and modern dance.
