Columbia Stages presents the MFA Acting Class of 2008 in a new adaptation of James Baldwin's Another Country, adapted and directed by Diane Paulus, to perform November 8-17 at The Riverside Theatre (91 Claremont Avenue, between 120th and 122nd Streets).
From renowned theater and opera director Diane Paulus (The Donkey Show, The Karaoke Show) comes a new adaptation of James Baldwin's classic novel "Another Country." At a time when we are forced to deal with the high-stakes issues of race, gender and politics in our own communities, Baldwin's landmark work resonates with added meaning. Paulus a graduate of Columbia's MFA Directing Program directs the MFA Acting Class of 2008 in this explosive theatrical homage to Baldwin's spirit. A network of friends is challenged to question themselves and their identities in this passionate, human and brutally honest examination of sexuality and race, imbued with further life and urgency when transported to the stage.
