Join us for de.Vi.ate which offers the very best of Alberta Ballet creators and artists - without boundaries and without limits - in three heart-pounding performances.

Alberta Ballet Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître said the entire production promises to take audiences on an emotional thrill-ride from start to finish.

"This is the one moment of the year when we let our dancers loose as they inhabit some of the most provocative and sensuous ballets of our time. For those who love passionate, athletic and edgy dance - not unlike the popular dance competitions we see on television today - your thirst will be fully satiated," he said.

From the team that brought you All of Us and The Sleeping Beauty, this triple bill features:

  • the Alberta premiere of Grand-Maître's Caelestis, which was commissioned by the National Arts Centre as part of Canada's 150th birthday celebrations. It features the JUNO-nominated score by Edmonton composer Andrew Staniland and projections by Calgary-based, Oscar-winning filmmakers Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis.
  • the world premiere of Sixth Breath by Alberta Ballet's Associate Artistic Director Christopher Anderson which is a breathtaking portrayal by an all-female cast on how finding space in a complicated world can be overwhelming and beautiful.
  • the return of the hugely successful Futureland by Wen Wei Wang which is a piece inspired by the aesthetics of contemporary video game art and music, set to the soundtrack of the video game, inFAMOUS.

Don't miss de.Vi.ate which hits Edmonton Feb. 22-23. Tickets are available online at https://www.albertaballet.com/deviate

Alberta Ballet, under the direction of Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître, connects audiences with dance that excites and inspires. The company reaches thousands of Albertans over the course of its September to May season and has toured across Canada and internationally.
