African-American Cabaret Series At Winter Park Playhouse Premieres New Cabaret Mar. 28

The Winter Park Playhouse continues to collaborate with Winter Park local powerhouse Maria Olivia Bryant and her company Maria Olivia Inspires to present a quarterly cabaret series, Expressions: A Celebration of Voices in African-American Music. The latest cabaret in this series is titled Harlem Blues and will premiere Thursday, March 28,2019 at 7:30 p.m. It will pay tribute to the music of iconic greats such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Mary J. Blige , Stevie Wonder and more!

This One-Night-Only event will feature Maria Olivia Bryant, with special guest vocalist Alicia Dominguez from Bethune-Cookman University, Bryan C. Pratt from Miami's Live Poets Society , Mark Falchook on piano, Tez Garmen on bass and Ezra Henry on drums.

Ms. Bryant grew up in Eatonville and is currently a resident of Winter Park. She is a graduate of Rollins College and attended graduate school at Stetson University. Maria is a community advocate for young people through her non-profit charity Maria Olivia Inspires and currently heads up an arts program at Hungerford Elementary.

Maria has had an extensive performing background and has traveled throughout Europe on a gospel tour and the Eastern and Western Caribbean Islands as a lead vocalist on Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Ms. Bryant's musical repertoire includes Gospel (her first love), Opera, Broadway, Classical, Motown, R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz and Blues.

Alicia Dominguez is an up and coming jazz artist who studies currently at Bethune Cookman University with sights set on becoming one of the next generation of great jazz performers.

Maria is an outstanding singer with inspired passion and collaborating with her on this diverse music series is an honor!" confirms Heather Alexander, Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Winter Park Playhouse.

General admission tickets are $20 plus a one drink minimum. Once sold out, "Standing Room Only" tickets may be purchased for $10. Seating is limited so advance reservations are strongly recommended.
