Adam Shankman to Become a Regular Judge on So You Think You Can Dance

Variety reports that film director and choreographer Adam Shankman will join Mary Murphy and Nygel Lythgoe on the judging panel of the FOX TV program 'So You Think You Can Dance'.

Shankman will make his appearance on the Fox show in the Top 20 Performances show, scheduled to air October 27.

Shankman is an American film director, producer, dancer, actor and choreographer. He studied at the prestigious Juilliard School in NYC, and went on to dance in videos for Paula Abdul and Janet Jackson.

Shankman's directorial film work includes the feature-length films, 'The Wedding Planner' with Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, 'A Walk to Remember' with Mandy Moore, 'Bringing Down the House' with Steve Martin and Queen Latifah, and a film adaption of the Tony Award musical, 'Hairspray', which starred John Travola. Shankman is currently working on a sequel to his 'Step-Up' and 'Step Up 2' dance movies, called 'Step-Up 3D'. He has been a guest judge and occasional choreographer on 'So You Think You Can Dance' since Season 3.

'So You Think You Can Dance', created by Simon Fuller (of American Idol) and Nigel Lythgoe, premiered in 2005 and comes from 19 Entertainment, Ltd and Dick Clark Productions. The show frequently invites guest performances and judges, some of which have included dance greats Debbie Allen and Tyce Diorio.

The all-new fall season of 'So You Think You Can Dance' airs Tuesdays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Wednesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
