Ken Davenport and Robyn Goodman today announced that the international search for the fifth member of ALTAR BOYZ is over. Matthew (who has taken the secular name Scott Porter) was recently discovered singing for thousands of dedicated worshippers at Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida, all without forsaking the boy-band roots that have allowed him to open for Orleans and 98 Degrees. Altar Boyz marks Scott's second mission to New York City, having recently appeared in the off-Broadway hit Toxic Audio.

Scott will be joining the original four Altar Boyz: Ryan Duncan (Man of La Mancha, Fiddler on the Roof) will be again be Juan; David Josefsberg (Les Miserables, Grease) returns to his role as Abraham; Andy Karl (Saturday Night, Saturday Night Fever, On the Record) takes on Luke once more, and Tyler Maynard (Mamma Mia!, On The Record) continues as Mark, the youngest of the ALTAR BOYZ.

ALTAR BOYZ is the new musical comedy about a struggling Christian boy-band riding the wave of America's latest fascination with religion. Armed with catchy melodies, divine moves and product in their hair, the self-anointed apostles of pop [Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan . . . and Abraham (He's Jewish)] bring their soul-saving tour to New York City, with their heavenly lyrics like "Girl, You Make Me Wanna Wait" and "Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone." Performances will begin Tuesday, February 15th, with opening night set for Tuesday March 1st.

ALTAR BOYZ has a score by Gary Adler (Musical Director of Avenue Q) and Michael Patrick Walker with book by Kevin Del Aguila (Six Story Building, Best Overall Production at the 2002 NYC Fringe Festival), based on an (immaculate) concept by Marc Kessler (The Manhattan Rhythm Kings) and Ken Davenport (Awesome 80s Prom).

ALTAR BOYZ will be directed by Stafford Arima (2004 Olivier Award nominee for Ragtime, the acclaimed Guys & Dolls at Paper Mill Playhouse, Children's Letters To God,) and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli (Chess concert with Josh Groban and Adam Pascal, Bat Boy, Tick, Tick . . . Boom!)), with scenery by Anna Louizos (Avenue Q, The Foreigner), costume design by Gail Brassard and lighting design by Natasha Katz (Beauty and the Beast, Aida). Lynne Shankel (The Thing About Men) will serve as Music Director and Co-Orchestrator with Doug Katsaros (Rocky Horror, Footloose).
