Deep Surface is the first career survey exhibition of Los Angeles-based Australian artist and Palawa woman Jemima Wyman, spanning three decades of her practice. The exhibition was curated by Katherine Dionysius and originated at QUT Galleries and Museums before travelling to Samstag. Wyman's work channels the upheaval and distress of protest into hypnotic, rhythmic and densely patterned surfaces, traversing drawing, painting, video, performance, sculpture, textiles and collage. The exhibition traces the evolution of her practice from the mid-1990s to today, exploring camouflage, collective organising, democracy and dissent.
