Private Jokes, Public Places Opens in London Tonight

Off-Broadway's critically acclaimed Private Jokes, Public Places by Oren Safdie will receive its European Premiere tonight at London's New End Theater.

This European première will be at the New End Theatre, Hampstead from Tuesday 7 November for a five week season to Sunday 10 December 2006. The press Night is now on Tuesday 14 Nov.
 
In the cast are Robert East, Michael Gilroy, M J Kang, Colin Starkey.    It is directed by Leon Rubin with design by Dermot Hayes. The show is presented by Snug Harbor Productions, Ergo Entertainment & Maximum Entertainment Productions in association with the New End Theatre.
 
Private Jokes, Public Places "is a comedy about the contemporary world of architecture.  Sexual tensions and intellectual pretence conflict when Margaret, a graduate student defends her thesis for a public swimming pool to an all-male jury of famous architects."
 
Private Jokes, Public Places has been performed at the Malibu Stage Company, Los Angeles 2001, , La MaMA ETC, New York 2003, the AIA Center off-Broadway 2003/4 , Boston and Tarragon Theatre Toronto in 2004. The comedy will be performed at Aurora Theatre Company, Berkeley, CA in April 2007. It is published by Dramatists Play Service.
