Photo Flash: Sci-Fi, Young Adult Classic THE GIVER Hits the Stage in Herndon

Lovingly called "1984 for kids" or "The Hunger Games without the violence," Lois Lowry's Newbery Award-winning book THE GIVER, adapted for the stage by Eric Coble, is now appearing Saturdays and Sundays at NextStop Theatre in Herndon, Virginia through March 12, 2017. Scroll down for a look at the sci-fi dystopian future created in the black box theatre space next to Reston Town Center, directed by Amanda Herman in her professional debut!
The cast includes Logan Wagner (Asher), Mira Cohen (Fiona), Aidan Chomicki (Jonas), Olivia McMahon (Lily), Jack Seeley (The Giver), Mike Sherman (Father), Bess Kaye (Mother/Chief Elder), Laura Russell (Announcer).
The production features a set design by Jack Golden, costume design by Stephanie Fisher, properties by Amanda Srok, lighting design by Sean Cox, and sound design by Reid May. The production team also includes master electrician Jonathan Abolins and production stage manager Maggie Riegel.
General Admission tickets are $20 for adults, $16 for kids 12 and under, and the running time is approximately 70 minutes without an intermission. The production is not recommended for children under 6 years of age. Performance Times: Saturday and Sunday 11am and 4pm until March 12, 2017. Tickets are available online, by phone through OvationTix at 866-811-4111, and at the door, subject to availability.
