GOODNIGHT MOON, THREE LITTLE BIRDS and More Set for ATMTC's 62nd Season
Adventure Theatre MTC, ATMTC, the twice recipient of the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Production, Theatre for Young Audiences 2011-2012, has announced its 62nd Season. This year ATMTC brings to life 5 main stage productions featuring 1 world premiere. The 62nd Season represents an exciting line-up of familiar stories and faces on the ATMTC Professional Stage.
The new season kicks off "in the great green room" with the classic GOODNIGHT MOON based on the book by Margaret Wise Brown that has become one the top 40 children's books of all time. Directed by Roberta Gasbarre, director of Helen Hayes Nominated The Red Balloon, this story's gentle tale has created bedtime memories for over 60 years. Over the holiday season, ATMTC is excited to present the world premiere of THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS, based on the traditional holiday song and adapted by Helen Hayes Winner Renee Calarco. Starring Helen Hayes Winner, Deidra LaWan Starnes and directed by Forum Theatre's Artistic Director Michael Dove. Christmas party chaos results in a case for Shirley the Partridge that delight mystery and holiday fans of all ages. ATMTC rings in 2014 in room 207 with MISS NELSON IS MISSING, directed by Jennifer Nelson (director of 2011's Mirandy and Brother Wind), and starring Broadway and Helen Hayes Winner, Natascia Diaz. The Ruyard Kipling classic THE JUNGLE BOOK is vibrantly brought to life in the hands of Shirley Serotsky, Associate Artistic Director of Theatre J, as the fourth show of ATMTC's season. Finally, the season is concluded with an explosion of pink in Adventure Theatre MTC's summer production of PINKALICIOUS, directed by American University Professor, Carl Menninger and starring ATMTC favorite Felicia Curry.
Additionally, ATMTC will be nationally touring its 2012 favorite, FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS and 2013's wildly popular THREE LITTLE BIRDS, which is set to debut Off-Broadway at the New Victory Theatre in February.
ATMTC's Producing Artistic Director Michael J. Bobbitt says of the season, "I am both thrilled and nervous about this very exciting and ambitious season. How often do you get to transfer Off-Broadway and launch a National Tour? What gives me great comfort and joy is knowing that we have assembled an incredible team of artists, who whole-heartedly believe in creating memorable theatre experiences, so that new generations of artists and audiences can emerge."
