The American Theatre Wing is pleased to announce its annual spring gala, to be held Monday, June 1, 2009 at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street). As in years past, the American Theatre Wing Spring Gala will bring together the best of Broadway and will include performances by Tony Award-Winners Kristin Chenoweth, Barbara Cook and Audra McDonald. Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman will serve as the evening's Honorary Chair and Mrs. Schuyler G. Chapin, Lucia Hwong Gordon and Anthony D. Leeds will serve as Gala Co-Chairs.

The entertainment portion of the evening is produced by Class Productions and directed by Lauren Class Schneider. All proceeds will benefit the education and outreach programs of the American Theatre Wing.

The evening includes cocktails, dinner and performances. Tickets start at $700, and tables of ten at $7,000.

The American Theatre Wing (Theodore S. Chapin, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Howard Sherman, Executive Director) is best known as the creator of the Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards®, which it presents annually with The Broadway League. The Wing's other activities, dedicated to recognizing excellence and supporting education in theatre, include "Working in the Theatre," now in its 30th year of telecasts on CUNY TV in New York and on other national cable outlets; "Guides to Careers in the Theatre," a video series developed for schools and libraries; a grants program to New York City not-for-profit theatre companies, which has awarded nearly $3 million since its inception; the "Theatre Intern Group," a career development program for young professionals; "SpringboardNYC," a two-week college-to-career boot camp for young performers moving to NYC; and the Jonathan Larson® Grants, given annually to honor emerging composers, lyricists and book writers.
