Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Gwen Stewart reprise the roles they originated on Broadway in Rent, The Broadway Tour. Joining Pascal and Rapp who reprise their award-winning roles, and Stewart, are Nicolette Hart (Maureen Johnson), Justin Johnston (Angel Schunard), Lexi Lawson (Mimi Marquez), Michael McElroy (Tom Collins), Jacques C. Smith (Benjamin Coffin III), and Haneefah Wood (Joanne Jefferson). The ensemble is rounded out by Karmine Alers, Toby Blackwell, Adam Halpin, Trisha Jeffrey, Telly Leung, Caren Lyn Manuel, Cary Shields, Jed Resnick, Andy Senor, Yuka Takara, and John Watson. Tickets are available for purchase at the Fisher Theatre box office, the Detroit Opera House box office, all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at1-800-745-3000, and online at www.ticketmaster.com or www.broadwayindetroit.com. In an interview with the Cleveland based entertainment online magazine Spangler.com, RENT star Anthony Rapp gives a few hints at the creative changed that the tour has made due to the inspired rehearsals the cast had with the production's director, Michael Greif. Greif directed the original RENT from its very first workshop and was inspired to embrace some of the organic moments that come out of the rehearsal process. (more...)

Adelphi University presented the first licensed full production of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical by alumnus Jonathan Larson B.F.A. '82, after its Broadway closing. This completely new and reconceived version of RENT kicked off the inaugural season in the University's new Performing Arts Center (AU PAC), and ran from September 23 through September 28, 2008. On Friday, September 5th, in celebration of Rent and the enduring memory of Jonathan Larson, Kathy 'Life' Kirkpatrick, owner of East Village's fabled Life Café, a favorite hangout of Larson and an important location featured in the musical itself, unveiled a special dedicated bench in his name. On Thursday, July 17th 2008 at 5:30PM. The current cast of RENT will appearing at Bloomingdale's at 59th Street (2nd Floor) for a special performance and autograph signing. The cast will be performing 'Seasons of Love', 'What you Own', 'Take Me Or Leave Me' and 'I'll Cover You'. After the performances RENT cast members will briefly sign autographs. From July 9th through July 20th, Bloomingdale's will feature RENT window displays, containing original costume items from the Broadway production (more...)
