On Friday, May 6th at 8pm twelve metro area high schools will compete in a Broadway style show at The Fabulous Fox Theatre where they will continue their journey toward scholarships, prizes and money for their performing arts programs by competing in the St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase. Area performing arts professionals judged 25 groups on Saturday, April 16th at the Semifinals and narrowed the acts to the final twelve (list of schools attached). Tickets are no longer available but people are welcome to wait in the "holding line" for a chance at any unused seats. Every effort will be made to get them in to the show, but there is no guarantee.
By the time of the finals, the students will have had three weeks to incorporate the judges critiques and suggestions to improve their acts. Judges for the finals are: Betsy Capes of Capes Coaching (NYC), Mike Isaacson of The Muny, Megan Larche of Fox Theatricals (NYC), Steve Woolf of Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Michael Uthoff of DANCE St. Louis and special guest judge Phyllis Smith, native St. Louisan and longtime ensemble cast member in NBC's hit series "The Office." Students are being judged on technical ability, stage presence, interpretation, originality and content . The final 12 acts will compete in front of a live audience at The Fox and will have the opportunity to work with Broadway actor, director and choreographer Tony Parise who will choreograph the finals along with local professionals Gerri Stretz and Yvonne Meyer. Students will have three days of rehearsals on the Fox stage to prepare for their May 6th performances. (Mr. Parise is in town through April 25 and available for live interviews). Students in the Finals Competition will also be videotaped by The Nine Network for a special St. Louis Teen Talent Showcase program to be aired on Monday, May 23 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 28 at 3:30 p.m.Videos
