It's delightful, it's delicious it's cliché to use the lyrics from "It's De-Lovely" when describing a Cole Porter production, I know. But when it comes to a production which not only tells his story, but seeks to educate the audience about why Porter was one of the geniuses of American musical theater, it only seems appropriate. The Cole Porter Project at the In Series is a charming tribute to Porter and one that shouldn't be missed by theater enthusiasts or anyone who appreciates well-composed songs with intelligent, witty, sophisticated, proactive and timeless lyrics. Photo Flash: Danish String Quartet Gives Pop-Up Performance at Manderley Bar

Last night the Danish String Quartet, the hottest young classical music group, were welcomed to New York in preparation for their upcoming Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center concerts this Sunday at Alice Tully Hall and Monday at the Rose Studio, the Danish String Quartet enjoyed a night on the town. They began the evening by attending Broadway's After Midnight, featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center All Stars. Following the performance, they went backstage to congratulate the orchestra on their performance before heading to the McKittrick Hotel. They got to experience the end of Sleep No More before their pop-up performance at the Manderley Bar, where they played a brief 15-minute set of Beethoven quartets and Scandinavian folk songs. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud present the premiere of Donna McKechnie's new Talk/Variety show on Monday, December 9 at 7pm. Tony-winning choreographer/director Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) was Donna's Very Special Guest for the evening, with singers Nick Adams and Nikki MacCallum singing songs from Mitchell's hit shows. Donna and Jerry discussed life, love, careers and even ended the evening with a good, old-fashioned soft-shoe, after Mitchell demonstrated his most successful audition tune, 'I Love A Piano!' Performing to sold-out audiences since October 2011, SPEAKEASY DOLLHOUSE brings an actual unsolved Prohibition-era murder to life in the downtown building that once served as mobster Meyer Lansky's hangout. It's one of my favorite weekends of the year. The weekend I get to spend three days listening to exciting new works as presented by some of the best performers Seattle has to offer. And this year Village Theatre did not disappoint as they invited members, performers, staff and press to partake of their Village Originals 13th Annual Festival of New Musicals. Some good, some maybe not so, some needing a little more work than others but all showing a deep love for the art and presented by some of the best voices in town. Now, I can't review them as they're still works in progress but I can tell you about the shows presented over the weekend and let you know about the one show that while still in development is still running one more weekend and can have tickets purchased to by non-members (that would be you, Dear Readers).
