BWW Blog: Cheyenne Dalton - Post-Audible Separation
by Guest Blogger: Cheyenne Dalton - Sep 27, 2016

This time last year, I met my friend Anthony Narciso. He was contracted to be the sound designer for Playhouse Creatures, a show that I was running sound for.  We didn't know it at the time, but we were to become thick as thieves and become the best sound team there has ever been (okay, maybe we're a little biased). We share sound effects, projects, and ideas - a good mark of two sound designer best friends. We created a shared dropbox folder - and titled it Anthony and Cheyenne Sing Sound Shanty's. Probably the most important folder we have inside our sound shanty's is our sound dictionary. We've just been taking ordinary words and using them to define events and happenings that we find in the world of sound. For example, the first definition we came up with was for 'Smashed,' which is defined as 'the poor mixing of a track, only possible when patching a fisher price keyboard into a cassette tape recorder and mixed with low quality YouTube,' and this definition spawned from a show choir performance in which I received a terribly recorded track to play. The British Museum Acquires Rare Picasso Prints
by BWW News Desk - Sep 26, 2016

The British Museum has acquired sixteen important lithograph prints and three aquatint prints by Pablo Picasso covering the post-war period from the late 1940s to the late 1950s. This acquisition closes the last major gap in the British Museum's representation of Picasso's achievements as a printmaker. Highlighting key themes in his work from this period, including his relationship with the youthful and independent-minded Francoise Gilot, the lithographs were produced in Paris when he was working in close collaboration with the printer Fernand Mourlot. The large aquatints from the early 1950s show Picasso's experimentation with the painterly possibilities of the technique working with young printers at the Paris workshop of Roger Lacouriere  with whom he had first worked in the 1930s on the Vollard Suite. BWW Blog: Emma Mueller - Imagine
by Guest Blogger: Emma Mueller - Sep 26, 2016

I was never one to sit still. I always tap a foot in the air while I'm sitting cross-legged. I have done more sitting still in the last week than I have in my entire life, and it was nothing less than enlightening.  (more...)

BWW Interview: Ben Vereen of STEPPIN' OUT at The Grand 1894 Opera House
by Bryan-Keyth Wilson - Sep 23, 2016

There's not much one can say when you look at the resume of Ben Vereen. I have to admit I thought the email to interview Mr. Vereen was a hoax or a vile trick someone was playing on me. Now the reason I say this is because he is one of my idols and reasons I studied musical theatre in college and left to go to NYC to work professionally. We are familiar with his work with Bob Fosse as the Leading Player in PIPPIN and as Judas in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR but Mr. Vereen still continues to give us the ole razzle dazzle on the stage and on the screen. He's starred in 9 Broadway shows, has received the coveted Antionette Perry Award (The Tony), a Drama Desk Award, and a Prism Award. Nominated for an NAACP Image Award, starred in 30 plus movies and television shows, and has a huge crossover career. Ben Vereen hit the scene in Martha Graham's PRODIGAL SON in 1965 and he's been working ever since. I had the esteemed pleasure to sit and talk about his illustrious career and the current projects he's working on currently. (more...)
