Into The Woods is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. It debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986, and premiered on Broadway in 1987. The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick area's only year-round professional producing theatre, has announced its 2016 Season.  Producers for the theatre are excited to bring the line-up of shows to the theatre because it will mark an expansion of Way Off Broadway's Mainstage season.  Since 2004, the theatre located in the Willowtree Plaza off of Route 40 West in Frederick has produced five Mainstage shows each season.  The 2016 Season will mark the beginning of a six show season for Way Off Broadway.  In addition, all six shows will be first-time productions for Way Off Broadway, never having been staged by the theatre before. Everyone becomes myopic in time and so these trips away from ourselves are critical for grounding our views, opinions and feelings about life and art. The MET, MoMA, The Morgan Library and Chelsea are great fun and places to see the best culture has to offer that has not been destroyed by irate terrorists of late. Yet Vermont's rolling hills, cows at every pass, cheese made from goats and maple syrup speak of a quieter, simpler time without monumental statements, paintings or understanding of man. Or is there something in the stillness, the quiet of time that Vermont possesses that we New Yorker's brush off our shoulder as if dandruff when in essence it may be the pixie dust of gods? The Huntington Theatre Company will open its 2015-2016 season with the Tony Award-winning musical A Little Night Music, Stephen Sondheim's most romantic and popular work, led by Tony and Olivier nominee Haydn Gwynne, as well as Broadway's Stephen Bogardus and Lauren Molina. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois (after all the terrible things I do; Smart People; Rapture, Blister, Burn; and Becky Shaw) will direct.
