Announcing transFORM Gallery's Fall Exhibit Sponsored by Westchester MagazineAnnouncing transFORM Gallery's Fall Exhibit Sponsored by Westchester Magazine
by BWW News Desk - Sep 27, 2014

transFORM Gallery is happy to announce their art exhibit for the Fall & Winter season, The Line, The Winter and The Wanderers sponsored by Westchester Magazine at the transFORM showroom and gallery in New Rochelle, NY. Loosely borrowing from the title, theme and the imagery of C.S. Lewis's novel, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, this exhibit plays with the novel's title and explores alternative realities, journeys of discovery, struggles and the sense of atmospheric tension. The opening reception for the art exhibit will be held on Saturday, October 18th from 5 to 8pm. Join transFORM Gallery and artists Stephanie Franks, Caren Sommer-Lazar, Evelyn Sadler and Cecile Brunswick to celebrate the occasion and their wonderful work. The artwork will be on display and available for purchase through Saturday, January 10th, 2015. What: transFORM Gallery in New Rochelle's Fall & Winter Art Exhibit, The Line, The Winter and The Wanderers. Exhibited works from artists Stephanie Franks, Caren Sommer-Lazar, Evelyn Sadler and Cecile Brunswick. When: Opening Reception October 18th from 5 - 8pm. The exhibit will be on view for the public Monday through Saturday, 10am to 4pm from October 18th, 2014 through January 10th, 2015. Where: transFORM Gallery, 20 Jones St. New Rochelle, NY 10801. About the Artists Stephanie Franks explores linear elements and painted forms. Each painting of Stephanie Franks might be compared to a journey, a voyage of discovery. The journey begins as paint is applied. A sense of tension permeates the whisper of atmospheric space, which is locked into place by line, form and color. Painted forms and linear elements define place and speak of the struggle engaged in during their execution. Caren Sommer-Lazar's current work includes line drawings and paintings from nature and 3D assemblages. Her outdoor studies capture the sense of the unseen, dark and enchanted wandering into unfamiliar woods. The 3D assemblages convey both tainted and innocent qualities. Evelyn Sadler showcases a strange and snowy world. Evelyn explains, 'I like to paint with the camera. Through photography I engage intimately with my surroundings and play with reflections to create an alternative reality, sometimes a bit dreamy, other times more emotional or intriguing. Viewers are deprived of the concrete context and are encouraged to get involved in a more subjective exploration. My intention is to evoke a certain mood and generate a sense of wonder or uncertainty.' Cecile Brunswick wandered to the exotic destinations of Morocco, Mexico and Spain. Cecile elaborates, 'When I travel, I often see architecture, colors, scenery, people, and music that is visibly 'different' to me. My abstract paintings are infused with the colors, light, languages and sounds of other cultures. Trips to Morocco and Mexico, for instance changed my palette and the way I paint. I try to convey, in an abstract way, the warmth and friendliness I encountered in my travels.' About transFORM Gallery transFORM Gallery presents diverse and eclectic exhibitions of original artwork in Manhattan and New Rochelle, NY. Our curated exhibitions provide visitors with the opportunity to discover a variety of mediums from painting and sculpture to mixed media and graphic arts. Artists come to transFORM from throughout the world and our neighboring communities in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey to present their artwork for homeowners and interior designers to find pieces to enhance their interiors. transFORM Gallery provides a window into the artists process and inspirations to create connections between the feeling of the artists and the viewer. transFORM Gallery lives at the crossroads of art and interior design. Interior design and decorating have a need for the energy, mood and life that is brought into a space by original artwork.
