New York City Tour de Cure Begins at Randall's Island, 8/20

The American Diabetes Association is inviting riders of all levels to join the celebration and be part of the Stop Diabetes movement by taking part in the annual New York City Tour de Cure, a cycling event on August 20 at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, to help raise funds to change the future of diabetes and help stop this devastating disease. Beginning at Icahn Stadium, the New York City Tour de Cure will be a day to remember filled with scenic views of the city and New Jersey, challenging rides, and a supportive community of passionate individuals who are standing up against diabetes. Tour de Cure is designed for riders of all levels from the 3 or 6-mile family ride around The Island, to a 100-mile century ride that stretches to the lakes of northern New Jersey and the Campgaw Mountain Reservation. The routes will feature rest stops with food to fuel the journey, mechanical support and volunteers to cheer riders on. 'Our participants are taking the ride of their life by helping to raise funds for the nearly 30 million Americans with diabetes,' said Kristine Magnifico, Market Executive Director for the American Diabetes Association. 'Every mile they ride and every dollar raised brings us that much closer to stopping this disease that affects more than 12% of New Yorkers.' Individuals and teams composed of co-workers, family and friends from around the region will gather on The Island to participate in the event. They will join other cyclists and volunteers from across the country. The Tour de Cure raises funds through registration fees and pledges collected by the cyclists.
