There were over 30 musicals that played the Marquis Theatre, and nine were revisited with songs and stories at 54 Below.

L. Doctorow’s vast rambling nostalgic, wonderfully American novel, is far removed from opera.

Irish Repertory Theatre has announced two productions to begin its 2023 season. Irish Rep will present Endgame by Samuel Beckett January 25-March 12, 2023, on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage, with an opening night set for February 2, 2023.

Curran and Book Passage announced today that they will present two new special events as part of Curran's SHOW & TELL series. On Sunday, October 20, 2019, Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea Clinton will celebrate the women who have inspired them as they discuss a?oeThe Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resiliencea?? at Temple Emanu-El (2 Lake Street, San Francisco). On Monday, October 21, 2019, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Ronan Farrow will discuss his new book, a?oeCatch and Kill,a?? sharing his experience of exposing serial abusers and a cabal of powerful interests hell-bent on covering up the truth, at the Calvary Presbyterian Church (2515 Fillmore Street, San Francisco). This warm, delicate play with music is an honest look at the hard work of holding a family together and re-connecting with what we've left behind.

ANASTASIA, based on the 1997 animated musical film of the same name, tells the tale of the supposed daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, who was alleged to have escaped her family's execution. Though the plot is based on historical events, it's not necessarily historically accurate, preferring instead to gloss over the larger events and focus on the people like the Dowager Empress, who escaped the Russian Revolution and is alive in Paris, and Anya, the young girl who may be the lost princess. This romantic plot glosses over the nuances of Russian history, and focusing on one girl with no memory, and who she actually might be, and she happens to live in Leningrad. That's not to say this is all fluff, there are some stunning visuals that hint at the violence of the revolution. This show has clearly tried to appeal to both children and adults, and it's walked that line very well.

Mike Kenny's Random Selfies will have its premiere later this month at Polka Theatre's Techtopia Festival. Kenny is one of the leading writers in the UK who specialises in theatre for young people. His adaptation of The Railway Children for York Theatre Royal, seen at Waterloo and Kings Cross stations and the National Railway Museum, won the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment in 2011.

Gritty, passionate, funny and heartbreaking, Awake and Sing! by Clifford Odets continues to resonate 80 years after its 1935 premiere by the Group Theatre. Director Elina de Santos and lead actress Marilyn Fox return to the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble with a 20th anniversary revival of the smash Odyssey production that ran for nine months in 1994-95. Also returning from that production are Richard Fancy and Dennis Madden; the three will be joined onstage by David Agranov, Robert Lesser, Allan Miller, James Morosini, Melissa Paladino and Gary Patent. Awake and Sing! opens at the Odyssey Theatre on Sept. 26.
