In times of turmoil, oppression, and uncertainty, how do people cope? How do they find joy, hope, and freedom when all seems hopeless? In the early 1930’s many of the citizens of Berlin found ways to escape the realities of life and the rise of the Nazi party by visiting one of the many cabarets in the city where they could leave their troubles at the door and partake in the debauchery of the latest avant garde entertainment. Today, however, in 2024, a visit to the Kit Kat Klub of CABARET, the latest offering from Titusville Playhouse, provides such an escape but with an important cautionary tale about the dangers of extremism and the real consequences of not taking them seriously.

Broadway came to Long Island recently as a range of vocalists and musicians gathered to honor and induct award-winning Broadway and movie lyricist and composer Stephen Schwartz into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame on March 23rd at its Stony Brook Museum location.

 University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) Professor of Double Bass Paul Sharpe has been named recipient of a 2024 University of North Carolina (UNC) Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.

On March 27th, at 7:30PM, the renowned clarinetist Charles Neidich will perform a concert at Greenfield Hall of the Manhattan School of Music.

Nina Wadia will star as Gemma in the world premiere of NOW That’s What I Call A Musical, a brand-new British musical written by award-winning comedian Pippa Evans and directed and choreographed by Craig Revel Horwood.

Curating a season is not an easy thing, especially for a large, professional theater. You want to strike that delicate balance of diversity, entertainment, cutting edge, and most of all audience appeal. But when the 5th Avenue Theater announced they were doing “Something’s Afoot”, an old show often done by community theaters, I was perplexed. But maybe it’s good, I mean, I’ve never seen it. Sadly, it’s not.

Broadcasting live from Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, the concert will coincide with the release of Happiness Bastards—The Black Crowes' first album in 15 years. The performance will find the band performing new songs from their 10th studio album, as well as classics that have defined their catalog over the past 40 years.
