BWW Review: Pinter's A SLIGHT ACHE Given Outstanding Production at Group rep in NoHo
by Don Grigware - Sep 27, 2016

There's nothing like a Pinter play for stimulation and excitement. The playwright, in fact, has his very own adjective 'pinteresque'. Stephen Sondheim has immortalized him in song in 'The Ladies Who Lunch' from Company. He's the top, so why aren't his plays easier to figure out? One thing is certain, they provide an emotional workout for the actors involved. Now onstage at the Upstairs theatre at Group rep in NoHo, A Slight Ache is receiving a superb production with exemplary direction from Kevin Dobson and a fine cast of three, who really exercise/exorcise their demons within the 70-minute time.frame. 'A Cow Needs A Tail For More Than One Summer' Wins Apple Indie Book Award
by BWW News Desk - Sep 27, 2016

'A Cow Needs a Tail For More Than One Summer: Life Lessons From Mom' by Lolita Cummings Carson chosen as Medalist Winner in the General Nonfiction category of the 2015 New Apple Book Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing. Book Synopsis 'A Cow Needs A Tail For More Than One Summer' is a fantastically funny collection of stories from the author's childhood, each revolving around a saying used by Cummings Carson's mother (as a rebuke, usually). This book started out as a gift from Cummings Carson to her mother, but quickly turned into an honest and hilarious look at the parent-child relationship. Cummings Carson gives us a look into family life: a mother's wisdom, a child's rebellious spirit, and the full-circle effect that comes with growing into parenthood yourself. About the Author Lolita Cummings Carson, an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), earned a bachelor's degree in Communications from Western Michigan University and a master's degree in Communications from Eastern Michigan University. She is a sought after thought leader who connects serious social issues with the hilarious sayings in her book. Such topics cross all generations and audiences and include corporate social responsibility, effective parenting, financial literacy, healthy and peaceful living, personal responsibility and accountability, thoughtful decision-making, learning from mistakes, and more! When not writing, teaching or leading, Cummings Carson can be found biking or working out with her husband, Lamar Carson. Together, they are the parents of four grown children: Briana Hendrix, Jerry Hendrix II, Domonique Carson, and Daniel Carson. About The New Apple Book Awards The Annual New Apple Book Awards for Excellence in Independent Publishing was established to honor the creative achievements of the unsung books fighting for their place within the digital publishing world.
