Do you remember classic pop/rock songs of the 1970s such as "Do It Again," "My Old School," and "Reeling In the Years?" If those tunes are swirling around in your head it's because they were big hits of the period by the iconic rock group Steely Dan. The founding member of that great band, guitarist extraordinaire Denny Dias, will take the stage at New York's popular jazz club IRIDIUM on August 6 and 7 for Denny Dias & Friends, a show that will celebrate the music of Steely Dan and showcase a few of his Denny's original songs. Joining Denny will be two special guests: Celebrated pianist/composer/music director Yaron Gershovsky and popular singer Lisa Jason as the show's lead vocalist. Performances of Denny Dias & Friends will be at 8 pm and 10 pm each night. Silver, FAICP, announces that the second section of new construction on the Rockaway Beach boardwalk will open to the public this Friday, July 3, in time for the holiday weekend.  Phase 2 of the construction project spans from Beach 97 Street to Beach 107 Street.  Combined with the first section of opened boardwalk (Beach 86 Street to Beach 96 Street) New Yorkers and visitors will now be able to enjoy 1 continuous mile of newly constructed boardwalk starting this weekend. The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre, the Frederick area's only year-round producing theatre, has announced a shake up to its Summer schedule of shows.  The current production of the song and dance musical classic, West Side Story, which opened June 12th and was scheduled to run through the end of August, will now play its final performance on Saturday, August 8th.  The earlier closing makes way for the 10th Anniversary special presentation of A Rock-n-Roll Golden Oldies Mystery, which was the show that helped launch Way Off Broadway's interactive murder mystery series, Marquee Mysteries.  So popular was the show, that eleven more interactive mysteries have appeared at Way Off Broadway since, while even more are now produced outside of the theatre, including regularly on the Walkersville Southern Railroad. The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) Dance Department presents Giselle, a ballet by Adolphe Adam, on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Millard Auditorium at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford. Guest choreographer and artistic director of the production is Xiomara Reyes, a world-renowned dancer who retired from the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in May after 12 years as one of its principal dancers.
