Neil Simon's RUMORS Comes to the Barn Players

This June the Barn Players are happy to present Neil Simon's side-splitting comedy "Rumors." Once upon a time up the Hudson River from Manhattan, a New York politico has just shot himself... and right before his 10th wedding anniversary party is about to begin. As he lies recovering in the other room, his wife is discovered missing, and his lawyer must get 'the story of what happened' straight before the other guests arrive for the injured statesman's intended celebration. As the comic confusions mount and the mundane becomes insane, the evening spins itself into a dizzying knockabout farce. (more...)

Evans, announces the addition of Cry It Out, written by Molly Smith Metzler, to close its 43rd season, May 10 - June 17, 2018. The previously announced The Legend of Georgia McBride, directed by Lauren Shouse, has been re-scheduled to open the season, playing September 14 - October 22, 2017, replacing Bruce Graham's Sanctions.  (more...)

THE 39 STEPS Opens Cortland Rep's 46th Summer Season

Cortland Repertory Theatre kicks off their 46th annual summer season at the Little York Pavilion in Preble with the brilliantly hysterical spy comedy The 39 Steps. This award winning play was adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and the movie by Alfred Hitchcock.  Performances will run from June 7th - 17th with evening show times at 7:30 PM.  Matinees are available on June 9th, 11th and 14th at 2:00 PM.  Tickets may be purchased by calling 800-427-6160 or at the CRT Box Office at 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland. Under the auspices of GRoW @ The Wallis, The Wallis Youth Theater Company presents its second theater production of the 2016-17 season, playwright Gareth Jandrell's Thebes, which makes its North American premiere on Saturday, June 10 at 8pm and Sunday, June 11 at 6pm at The Wallis in Beverly Hills. Ravaged by climate change and shaken by political turmoil, the citizens of Thebes must unite in order to revolutionize their democracy. From Oedipus to Antigone, the story of Thebes  remains a fascinating exploration of fate, morality and power, two and a half thousand years after the saga was originally written. Thebes is directed by Madeleine Dahm, with lighting design by Bosco Flanagan, recently named Lighting Designer of the Year by Los Angeles' Stage Raw. Sharon Playhouse Sets Star-Studded Casts for 2017 Summer Season

Sharon Playhouse has announced complete casting for its 2017 Season. The season kicks off with MINOR CHARACTER: SIX TRANSLATIONS OF UNCLE VANYA, created by New Saloon (Morgan Green, Madeline Wise, and Milo Cramer), followed by FAR AWAY by Caryl Churchill (Love and Information). The season will conclude with a new, intimate chamber production of Meredith Willson's THE MUSIC MAN. AstonRep Theatre Company Announces 2017-18 Season

AstonRep Theatre Company is pleased to announce its 2017-18 Season, kicking off this fall with 1984, a chilling view of a world controlled by a totalitarian government, based on George Orwell's classic novel, adapted for the stage by Robert Owens, Wilton E. Hall Jr. and William A. Miles and directed by Artistic Director Robert Tobin. This winter, the season continues with a FESTIVAL OF ONE ACTS BY TENNESSEE WILLIAMS, celebrating one of the 20th century's greatest writers. AstonRep's season concludes next summer with THE LARAMIE PROJECT, a community's deeply-moving response to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, written by Moises Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project and directed by Associate Artistic Director Derek Bertelsen. The 2017-18 season will also include the 9th ANNUAL WRITERS' SERIES, a daylong festival of workshops from talented local and regional writers.  (more...)

The story of a young woman who may or may not be the presumed dead Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia has been told in many forms before - even as a short-lived 1965 Broadway musical called ANYA - but this new stage adaptation by Terrence McNally (book), Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) is surely a welcome variation.
