From June 9 - 19, 2016, Houston Ballet will conclude its 2015-16 season with the world premiere of artistic director Stanton Welch's Giselle. The world premiere of Giselle is made possible through the generosity of longtime Houston Ballet supporter and trustee Lynn Wyatt. This production will showcase the company's strength and depth of talent, while staying true to the original story of love, betrayal, and redemption, set in the Romantic era. MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – (May 16, 2016) – Miami City Ballet (MCB) has announced its 50-member roster for the 2016-17 season, which opens on October 23 in Miami, including the promotions of Nathalia Arja to principal soloist and both Chase Swatosh and Shimon Ito to soloists, and the addition of four new dancers: Lauren Fadeley, formerly a principal with Pennsylvania Ballet (PAB) who is joining MCB as a soloist; Amir Yogev, another dancer from PAB who began his career with MCB; and Alaina Andersen and Luiz Silva, both recent graduates of Miami City Ballet School. How curious and curiouser an English children's fantasy written in 1865 for three sisters has been translated into 174 languages and never been out of print since, never once. Lewis Carroll's surreal tale 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,' usually shortened to 'Alice in Wonderland,' appears on stage at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts when Artistic Director Michael Pink and Milwaukee Ballet present their version of Alice in Wonderland, which first premiered at the Washington Ballet in 2012, With this immense production of Alice, MKE Ballet Costume Manager Mary Piering completes 32 years in the company's costume shop at 5th and National to refit the more than 120 costumes for the one weekend only performances. A visit to the shop the week of rehearsals found Piering stitching on a small headpiece, putting the finishing touches on the entire cast's wardrobe. (more...)

Based on timeless fairy tales and fantastical scenarios, the seven classic animated Silly Symphony shorts include five Academy Award-winners, the first Silly Symphony short produced and directed by Walt Disney, the first commercial color short and the first to utilize a multiplane camera to create depth of field.
